The bezel of the LCD is used to hold the glass to the PCB. You can see the black bezel in the photo below.
STN with Bezel
Character LCD displays and Graphics LCD displays have a standard bezel dimension. These displays are an equivalent to other LCD manufactures such as Densitron, Standish, and Optrex.
There are monochrome LCD’s that contain a bezel that is a different dimension than the bezel on our standard LCD Display module.
