PDLC – Polymer Dispersed LCD
Focus Display Solutions now offers Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal displays [PDLC_Technology]. This is something referred to as PDLC LCD display modules. Other types of names for this type of LCD glass technology include:
- Suspended particle devices display
- SPD LCD glass display
- Sandblasted glass
- Intelligent glass
- Magic glass
- Privacy glass
- Smart glass
- Switchable glass
New LCD technology allows custom glass panels to be in one of two states:
- Clear (on): When energized (powered) the polymers are aligned and the glass is clear.
- Frosted or Opague (off): When de-energized (no power) the polymers return to a random order. This absorbs the majority of the light.
Properties of the PDLC display:
- Polarizer’s are not necessary with this technology; therefore this display shows very bright
- Positive mode and Negative mode is possible
- Working voltage between 3V to 5V
- Contrast ratio of 40:1
- Temperature range of -20C to +50C
